Dr. Glancey is a Professor with appointments in the College of Engineering and the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. He received his Ph.D. in 1991 from the University of California at Davis. His interests are in the application of the solid mechanics, controls, sensors, solid modeling and design to a variety of research problems. Dr. Glancey’s work includes the development of new or improved products and automated processes, the forensics of product failures, as well as a better understanding of the underlying physics of many natural and man-made phenomena.
His research utilizes a combination of analysis/simulations, prototyping, and testing. Cooperation with several centers on campus is typical including the Center for Biomechanical Engineering Research and the Center for Composite Materials. Dr. Glancey and his students have co-authored more than 120 manuscripts and papers since 1997 and several students have received national awards from ASME and SAMPE.
Dr. Glancey is a registered professional engineer and has served as an expert witness for more than 25 product liability lawsuits and has also consulted for over 20 companies in the U.S. He has been awarded one patent and has eight patent applications and provisional patents in the areas of composites manufacturing, the use of composite materials for vibration absorption, and new product design.
