EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Dr. Liyun Wang was trained in Mechanical (BS), Electrical (MS), and Mechanical/Biomedical Engineering (PhD) as well as Orthopaedics (Postdoc). She joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Delaware in 2005 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2011 and full Professor in 2017. Dr. Wang’s laboratory has performed musculoskeletal mechanobiology research in osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, diabetes, and cancer bone metastasis, by combining mechanical stimulation, advanced imaging, and biology. Dr. Wang has published more than 80 journal and 160 conference papers, with 5111 citations (Google Scholar, 2024). She has received 33 grants as PI, project PI, or Investigator with a total of $33M ($7.2M to her group). Dr. Wang has trained 20 graduate, 7 postdoc students, and more than 50 undergraduates in her lab. Her trainees received many research awards including the Mary and George Nowinski Award, Francis Lindell Achievement award, Web Jee Young Investigator Awards, and Best Paper/Presentation Awards. She serves as the Director of the Multiscale Assessment Research Core of the NIH funded Delaware Center for Musculoskeletal Research. Dr. Wang is an elected Fellow of American Society of Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR, 2021) and the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE, 2022).
