ABET Accreditation

The Mechanical Engineering Program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org, a federation of 31 professional engineering and technical societies. Since 1932, ABET has provided quality assurance of education through accreditation. ABET accredits more than 2500 engineering, engineering technology, computing, and applied science programs at over 550 colleges and universities nationally. ABET is recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation. The organization accredits programs, not institutions.

Mission Statement

The Faculty of the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering at the University of Delaware, concerned with continual improvement of academic standards and dedicated to the achievement of academic excellence, recognize these accreditation efforts are guided by the desire to better fulfill our mission of cultivating both learning and the advancement of knowledge in the engineering sciences by providing all of our students with outstanding undergraduate education programs so that they will know how to reason critically and independently yet cooperate productively.
